Viva La Famiglia

It took several decades, with detours via Mexico City, New Delhi, Las Vegas, La Romana and cruise ships, for Maccioni Group’s ringmaster Sirio Maccioni to open a namesake restaurant. Harboring one of New York’s best addresses at The Pierre, Sirio Ristorante is dedicated to bringing you a sophisticated contemporary Italian gastronomic experience. Sundays are going to become family night with a prix fixe menu offered. We had a chance to preview it with a few Maccioni family members. Having known Sirio for over three decades, it was easy for us to fit in. While English, French and Italian were spoken, we tasted Sirio’s wife Egidiana’s recipes, including Pappa al Pomodoro, washed down with home-made limoncello by Marco, one of the restaurateur extraordinaire’s three sons. Also in attendance were son Mauro and his daughter Stella. We hope everyone will feel as welcome as we did, and you might even get an Italian lesson in the process!
